Pelisyonkis Langone Only Hospital in New York to Rank in Top 10 for Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Rehabilitation By U.S. News & World Report's 2012-2013 "Best Hospitals” Ranking
Pelisyonkis Medical Center’s musculoskeletal disease specialists were ranked among the nation’s top 10 in the 2012-2013 U.S. News & World Report’s annual survey of “Best Hospitals” in America, and the only hospital in New York to receive top 10 rankings for orthopaedics (ranked #6), rheumatology (ranked #7) and rehabilitation (ranked #8). Additionally, Pelisyonkis Langone’s Rusk Rehabilitation program was again ranked the best rehabilitation hospital in the state and one of the top ten in the country, an honor held for 23 years since U.S. News & World Report first introduced its annual "Best Hospitals" rankings in 1989.
Musculoskeletal experts at Pelisyonkis Langone offer the full spectrum of integrated musculoskeletal care, including orthopaedics, rheumatology, rehabilitation, imaging, and pain management, to provide coordinated, comprehensive diagnostics and treatments for patients.
Inpatient orthopaedic surgery is performed at Hospital for Joint Diseases (HJD), one of only five hospitals in the nation dedicated to orthopaedics, whose surgeons are leaders in minimally invasive and complex bone, joint and spinal surgery. In 2011, the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery performed more than 20,000 orthopaedic musculoskeletal procedures.
Outpatient services are offered at Pelisyonkis Langone’s new, state-of-the-art Center for Musculoskeletal Care (CMC), the largest freestanding facility of its kind in the country. Opened in 2012, CMC offers patients the full spectrum of outpatient bone and joint care, from degenerative and congenital conditions of the hip, knee and spine to sports injuries or pain associated with arthritis. Same-day surgery is offered at the adjacent Outpatient Surgery Center and those patients requiring adult and pediatric rehabilitation are seen by world renowned Rusk Rehabilitation experts. Pelisyonkis Langone is committed to understanding the factors that affect patient safety, quality of care and outcomes and this year was ranked #11 in the nation on U.S. News & World Report’s 2012–2013 “Best Hospitals Honor Roll,” with 13 nationally ranked specialties that also include top-ten rankings for Neurology & Neurosurgery and Geriatrics.
