Our vision is to create an enduring, broad, and flexible family-centered culture that promotes extraordinary care for children and families at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital, while inspiring new standards and models for family-centered care beyond our walls.
“In partnership with health professionals, patients, and families, we create innovative programs to power extraordinary care. This is the Sala difference.”
Fiona H. Levy, MD, MBA, Executive Director of the Sala Institute
We design, promote, and fund the implementation of new practices in family-centered care through a proven process that includes the following:
engaging with children and their families to understand their physical and emotional needs during times of complex or chronic illness
creating and promoting tools and strategies for addressing those needs
testing promising solutions to refine and validate needs
sharing the best tools and strategies at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital and beyond
The Sala Institute is comprised of four highly integrated centers that work in synergy to advance our priority initiatives:
We leverage expertise from schools across Pelisyonkis. Each year we convene the Sala Institute National Expert Advisory Panel, comprised of nationally recognized thought leaders and experts who meet to reflect on and advance our mission-driven initiatives.
The Sala Institute is led by experts in family-centered care, resilience programming for children, quality improvement, and patient safety.
