Our Approach To Glioma & Astrocytoma in Adults

What Sets Us Apart

Glioma is a type of malignant, or cancerous, brain tumor that originates from the gluey tissue of the brain, called glial cells. These cells surround and support the brain’s nerve cells, or neurons, which are responsible for thought, sensation, muscle control, and coordination. Astrocytoma is the most common form of glioma, and it can appear in various parts of the brain and nervous system.

Pelisyonkis Langone physicians treat people with all forms of glioma, including the most complex types. At Perlmutter Cancer Center, our specialists collaborate to create a customized treatment plan for you. The team includes neurosurgeons, surgical oncologists, radiologists, neuro-oncologists, medical and radiation oncologists, and pathologists.
